Boca Hopes 2026 Copa Libertadores Final Will Be at La Bombonera

The last time was in 2018, when it hosted the first leg against River. All finals played at La Bombonera: Boca 1-2 Santos (Second leg - 1963). Boca 1-0 Cruzeiro (First leg - 1977). Boca 4-0 Deportivo Cali (Second leg - 1978). Boca 0-0 Olimpia (First leg - 1979). Boca 2-2 Palmeiras (First leg - 2000). Boca 0 (3) - 0 (1) Cruz Azul (Second leg - 2001). Boca 2-0 Santos (First leg - 2003). Boca 0-0 Once Caldas (First leg - 2004). Boca 3-0 Gremio (First leg - 2007). Boca 1-1 Corinthians (First leg - 2012). Boca 2-2 River (First leg - 2018). After securing its qualification to the group stage of the 2026 Copa Libertadores, Boca is hopeful that the final of the continent's premier tournament will be held at La Bombonera. According to Noticias Argentinas agency, the Boca stadium, one of the historical venues of South American football, is among the alternatives being analyzed by Conmebol to host the decisive match. Nevertheless, this remains a rumor as no inspections have been carried out or official statements made. Considering the requirements set by Conmebol for such events—minimum capacity, pitch certification, connectivity, infrastructure, and lighting level—La Bombonera meets all the requested criteria. Furthermore, its history adds significant symbolic value, as it is the second stadium to have hosted the most Copa Libertadores finals (11), with Boca as the protagonist in all of them.
